Spanish
In the mid 90’s Pastor Rick Finley became very burdened for the growing Hispanic community of Raleigh-Durham. He began to pray that God would enable the Fellowship Baptist Church to establish a ministry to the Spanish-speaking people who desperately needed to hear the gospel in their native tongue. He shared his vision with the members of the church, and they too began to pray for God to send someone to help fulfill their pastor’s vision. In 1996 the Lord answered those prayers when He brought Pastor Finley and Marc Johnston together in a meeting room in Crown Point, Indiana.
Brother Marc Johnston moved his family to Durham and became a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He immediately began reaching Spanish-speaking people with the gospel. Over time, the Fellowship Baptist Church Spanish Department has grown to become one of the strongest ministries of its kind in the state of North Carolina. God has used Brother Johnston and his wife to establish Sunday school classes, children’s choirs, bus routes, soul-winning groups, etc. Iglesia Bautista de Comunion is a thriving work with over 600 people attending the services every week!
The Spanish Ministry meets for Sunday school every Sunday at 12:45 pm (Escuela Dominical). The morning service follows at 1:45 pm (Culta de la tarde). Sunday evening service starts at 7:30 pm (Culte de la noche). The mid-week Wednesday Bible study begins at 6:30 pm (Estudio Biblico & Oracion). Five bus ministry routes serve the spanish community of Durham.
